Prability.org is operated by The Powell River Measuring Up Committee for Accessibility and Inclusion, as a legacy of our May 26, 2009: Ability First! Employment Gathering.
Our function is to provide persons with disabilities and local (Powell River, BC) employers a one-stop employment information experience. This site's aim is two-fold: to help inform you of the help that is out there, and to better direct you to the appropriate service providers you need. Our services page lists local employment organizations, as does the orange bar at right. We always welcome feedback and encourage you to let us know how we can improve your experience; any website is a constant work in progress. Please contact the webmaster at: info@prability.org
About The Powell River Measuring Up Committee for Accessibility and Inclusion
Over the past three years (2006-2009) The Powell River Measuring Up Committee been awarded close to $100,000 through Vancouver Foundation, 2010 Legacies Now/ Measuring Up Program, and Powell River Disability Games grants toward a wide array of projects including volunteer coordination for the 2007 BC Disability Games, a public forum, equipment purchases and donations to local disability sports organizations.
The Committee’s activities listed below have raised awareness and actively promoted Powell River as an inclusive and accessible city. The feedback received from these meetings have driven current efforts toward an employment fair for people with disabilities and their advocates in May 2009.
