The Powell River Measuring Up Committee for Accessibility and Inclusion (or 'MUp') was formed in 2006 to help initiate dialogue between citizens and service providers on the topic of access and inclusion for all persons.

MUp produced a short-term and longer-term plan that included projects such as facilitating the 2007 BC Disability Games in Powell River, The Rick Hansen Wheels in Motion events and Ability First!, an employment for persons with disabilities gathering in May 2009 (through a grant from The Vancouver Foundation). The images below are from the May 26 event.

The Measuring Up Committee continues to advance its cause through initiating projects, dialogue and through the support of community groups working toward the access and inclusion of all persons, in terms of:

  • Transportation
  • Housing
  • Employment
  • Recreation
  • Education

Below are the initial Measuring Up brainstorming posters that employed the PATH method. (click here or on image below to see larger version in new window)
